Explore and deepen your practice with 2008 Sunday Winter Workshops
Fee: $25 per workshop- Please note that this fee is waived each session that you are enrolled in the Personal Plus program These fun, causal and informative workshops will be combination lecture, question and answer, and practice, and will shed some light, clarify and help you wrap your mind around some of the more esoteric aspects of the practice of yoga. Handouts will enable you to practice at home, and a bibliography will be provided for further study. Please come in comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
Sunday, January 20th, 1:30 - 3:30pm : Classical yoga: 8 steps to peace The yoga asanas are just 1 of the eight steps of the classical science of yoga. This workshop will provide you with a brief history, overview and context for the other very powerful 7 steps. This ancient practice can be used quiet effectively in the contemporary context to provide us with tools to cultivate physical, mental and emotional health and well being.
Sunday, February 24th, 1:30 - 3:30pm : Pranayama: The Yogic art of mindful breathwork Yoga breathing is perhaps the most powerful tool to create all around balance and health. Come explore the rationale behind pranayama. We will practice, practice, practice some of the many techniques, and most importantly, learn what we can do at home, work and play to develop yoga-breath.
Sunday, March 23rd, 1:30 - 3:30pm : Introduction to Ayurvedic Yoga Ayurveda is the “sister” science to yoga and has many overlapping principles that allow for an authentic blending of the two. While yoga is primarily a practice of movement, breathing and meditation, Ayurveda is a medical approach that uses natural phenomenon as its framework. Learn how to determine you “type” and then adjust your approach to your yoga practice to receive optimal results in both your home practice and in the small group setting.
